I was all inspired to stamp the other night when I had some time to myself. I cased the colour combo for the round card from Shelley

I made this using my Classic Round Nestability from Stampin' & Scrappin'. It's the largest size circle in the pack. I just off-set it a bit at the top so the fold would stay intact. I used the one 2 sizes then 3 sizes down to cut out the white and pink circles, used the SU scallop punch to do the DP and my 1 3/4" SU punch for the circle.

I decided to change sizes and see what happens. This card is 8" x 3". I used all SU paper, stamps and markers. Man do I need some Copics!

Shelley tagged me in her blog. I don't know yet who I'm gonna tag, gotta think about it. But for now here's my answers:

Ten years ago: Hmmm....I was 21, working at Coke, Phil worked at the city. We had been married for about a year. We were spending money like mad fools and were just starting to talk about babies.

Snack I enjoy: Anything sweet, especially ice cream and slurpees

Five things on todays "to do list": Well it's 1:34 in the morning right now so I guess the first thing should be: go to bed!. Need to do laundry, take Emma to her ortho appointment, get girls to dayhomes and back to work at 4:00 p.m.

Things I would do if I was a millionaire: Work very very part time at WJ just for the fun of it, get a super awesome car, buy my mom's house for her

Places I have lived: Calgary till I was one, Airdrie ever since, except for the two years of college in Lethbridge.

Phil goes Green

Shelley let me use her salon to dye Phil's hair. He figured that seeing as he would be shaving it all off on Wednesday this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to dye it any colour he wanted. Considering his love for trees, weeds, grass, parks etc. he chose green. He made me go into the "alternative clothing store" (I didn't know pipes were an item of clothing, but if you need one that's where to go!) to get his dye. Not quite the colour of grass or trees, but the jar says it glows under black light - YAY!!

Shelley talked me through the proper way to bleach someone's hair. You know when you see someone with bleached roots but orange tips - they did it wrong! Now I know how to do it right!

The best part of using a friends salon after hours - BEER!!

Woah - It's Been a Long Time!

I can't believe I've gotten so far away from blogging! Life has been hectic, but with summer holidays here hopefully it'll take on a slower pace!

Shelley, Penny and I have decided to challenge ourselves to come up with more "original" artwork. We often use other people's ideas as a starting point and add our own little twist. In order to push ourselves we need to start coming up with our own ideas. There is a method to this madness, which shall be revealed at a later time. ;-)

Head Shaving Thank You's

Phil has decided that as a show of support for Ken, and to raise money to help Tara with daily expenses, he is going to be shaving his head at the City of Airdrie's Stampede Breakfast. He has been working hard to collect pledges so I thought we should come up with a thank-you note for him to be able to send to his sponsors.

The card is SU Old Olive, and SU designer paper. The orange is just from a Michael's multi-pack. The ribbon is the SU cotton twill in Chocolate Chip. I used SU Chocolate Chip ink with the thanks stamp from SU Lexicon of Love. The ribbon is made for a cuttlebug die cut I got a long time ago when I did a breast cancer awareness show. Sadly, it seems to be coming in handy....

Cancer Sucks

Things have been fairly "meh" around here this week. Last week we received some devastating news that Phil's good friend, and boss for 10 years, has leukemia. Ken is a great guy with a beautiful wife and 4 children. For the first few days not too many people knew so we kept it quiet. Yesterday an announcement was made at the City and more people are aware of the situation.

We went to visit him yesterday, which was good and bad all at the same time. His cancer is quite advanced, and adding to the issue, Ken has diabetes. He is receiving two bags of chemo a day, as well as injections of chemo. He thought he might shave his head today, he wants his hair to go on his own terms. Phil mentioned shaving his head too so I'm trying to convince him to get a couple of guys from the City together to do it and make it a fund-raiser for Tara (his wife)

It's tough to see a family go through this. I feel really helpless and when I stop to think about how Tara must be feeling I start to cry. I can't imagine what I would do, how do you even start to deal with this? The good thing is that Ken is pretty stubborn and has never backed down from a fight before. I hope he is able to apply his attitude to this situation. For now we just have to wait and see.
